Wednesday 12th February - Sunday 2nd March 2014
We woke up early and got ourselves fed and water before heading downstairs to grab a cab to the airport.
Stu and I got dropped off first at the domestic airport before Mum and Dad carried on to the International. It was sad saying goodbye again, but it won't be long till I'll be home for a little while in August.
We got upgraded, to the emergency exit seats as we were an hour early to check in! Stu got stopped once again for the bomb test, I thought I was going to get stopped but I was carrying my camera bag, my rucksack, my laptop bag and laptop! Stu asked the guy why I didn't get stopped and the guy said 'the lady had too much stuff'! So now I volunteer to carry all the stuff through security!!
The flight was non eventful and we arrived back into Melbourne 2 hours later. We booked ourselves into a back packers which was OK. Nothing amazing, but we were in the middle of the city so pretty useful!
We managed to find an apartment in the city to move out of the hostel a week later thank god! Too much drama, we were sharing a room with a bunch of Italians. I swear to God I have never seen a bunch of vain people. This one guy came upstairs six times, I kid you not, to change his t-shirt!?!!?!?! Worse than I am! They all got kicked out as they were letting their friends sleep in someone of the beds in our room that weren't theirs. Luckily this didn't happen to us. If it did I would have literally pulled said person out of the bed onto the floor. They refused to leave and the police were called to kick them out! Why do we always end up in the room/hostel where action is never short of?!
We went back to work on the Thursday which was good earning money again! I had another guy I had to train to replace me at the end of March as my six months was coming to an end.
We headed to white night on the Saturday, the whole city was lit up with art work across six blocks and across the river. The trams down the main high street were closed off. I have never seen so many people in my life. We were out from 8 pm till midnight before I started to feel a little claustrophobic due to the amount of people about. It was pretty crazy!
Stu finished up his work the day his parents arrived, he went out on the Tuesday night to celebrate. He came home so drunk and the proceeded to keep me up until 3 am being sick. I had to kick him out of bed at 5 am to make sure he got to work at 6 am. His boss told him to stay away from machinery as he was still drunk. He called me at 9 am saying he felt awful and couldn't eat anything still. Made me feel better getting no sleep at all!
Stu's parents arrived on the 26th, which was amazing seeing them again after two years. We had a coffee and had a good catch up, its amazing how much happens in two years!
Stu took his parents on a tour on Thursday round the city as I was working. I had to tell him where to go and what to see and how to get there. Paul said he got lost once but overall not bad!
On the Friday, I was not feeling great, so left work early to have a sleep before we headed to the Eureka Tower. The lift up to the top went way to fast and my ears felt like they were about to explode! The views from the top were pretty awesome. We could see all the way to Port Melbourne, Victoria Harbour and St Kilda. I passed up on dinner than night and went to bed early!
Saturday we had our neighbors tour, now if I had just woken up from a coma and had no idea what day it was, I would of assumed it was Christmas due to Jackie's excitement! Our tour guide was Irish and really funny. He told us neighbors was all lies, basically tell us all the facts as to why it is lies. Like the weather is always sunny, this is Melbourne, fours seasons in a day for starters! Apparently every time someone gets married one of them dies. Some other guy has been shot four times and still lives! Considering the amount of traffic accidents etc this cul de sac street has is amazing too!
We arrived at the neighbors street where the houses are, these are peoples actual homes! They get paid a pretty penny for it too! The stars do their filming outside of the house each week before they head to the studio down the road to do the filming inside the houses!
We took our 'cliche' pictures of the Ramsay street sign before we headed to the studios. We got to see Harold's store (properly the only thing I do remember in neighbors), the lake which is more like a puddle than anything! Plus we got to see the hospital and the back yards of the houses too!
It was actually a good day, dare I say it!
On the Sunday, Paul wanted to go to an air show, it was celebrating 100 years of Australian military. Stu, Jackie and I headed down after breakfast for a couple of hours, it was actually really good. Plenty of air demonstrations being shown!
