Friday 3rd August
We woke up early to do one final site seeing, the view point. It was a long 40 minute walk to the top of the highest point, but we got a fantastic view of the island. The part connecting the two high points is incredibly small; no wonder most businesses here got wiped out in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. Most businesses have been rebuilt now and a better warning system has been put into place. Must be quite scary hearing the alarm and heading for higher land.
We headed back down and back to the hostel ready to check out and walk to the pier for our boat to Krabi. We have really enjoyed Phi Phi, we thought it might be a bit too busy, but it was perfect!
We hoped to have gotten a boat straight to Langkawi, but this seemed not possible, even though I saw it was possible on a timetable in Phuket. Never mind, we had to stop in Krabi for a night, which wasn't too bad. It was quite a nice little town; we had a wonder around the town for the afternoon before heading back to the hostel in the late afternoon.
We ventured out in search of some food and came across a big night market where we enjoyed some cheap food again! I also found a stall that sold homemade coconut ice cream! For 20 Baht I got a lot of ice cream! It was really good too!
We headed back to the hostel to pack our bag ready for our early morning departure.
Overall view on Thailand:
We have seen so much in the past month and a half, and we have enjoyed it all. The North of Thailand is more relaxed than the South and the islands. We have had a great time, the locals are great and help you whenever possible, and we didn't want to leave! Stu loved Pai, while I enjoyed Koh Tao and Phi Phi more. The food has been great and we have tried many local dishes, but our favourite is still the curries! We both would love to stay longer, but we must move on!
