So another early morning and another walk to the bus station to catch our bus. We both were feeling pretty hungover to say the least.
We waited for our bus to pull up and boarded easily onto and sat down to try to get some sleep! Well the two hour nap did help us and our hangovers so we were feeling pretty good afterwards!
After about four hours, we were done with the bus! We had one guy that was so annoying. He constantly talked over the drier when he was making annoucements so no one could hear anything! Very frustrating!
The bus journey was LONG! We spent the day, plus night and then till 7 pm for the next day! Too long!
The scenery was amazing! The fall colours was amazing! All the reds, yellows and green it was great. I love autumn!
We had a changeover at Ottawa and then at Sudbury before our over night trip to Thunderbay. Its a right old pain to keep having to get off the bus grab our luggage and drag the bags into the waiting area. Wait for 45 mins to an hour then drag them back onto the bus!
Towards the end of our journey we were both getting irritated and frustrated, plus the bus was an hour late arriving in Winnipeg.
We literally ran off the bus and into the first taxi possible! Dad was very kind and booked us at the Fairfield Inn for a couple of nights. The hotel wasn't too far way thank god! We checked in and ran straight upstairs for a shower!
The best shower EVER! The hotel dropped us off at a restaurant for us so we could eat something! It was actually a good meal! We were speaking with the hotel driver and he told us what the winters were like. Normally it is either really, really cold or there is a ton of snow. Last winter they got both! They had a month of minus 30, a WHOLE month!!! We had a great dinner before we headed back to the hotel for an early night and a great sleep!

We had the best sleep ever! We had breakfast included which was good, so we stuffed ourselves with food!!
We headed out towards downtown which was a fair walk, about an hour away. It wasn't too bad of a walk. We didn't think Winnipeg felt super safe, apparently it has a high crime rate compared to other cities in Canada. It was pretty warm day out too, which made it nicer to walk!
We headed towards the Manitoba museum as we have heard it was a good museum. Well we weren't disappointed. There was plenty of displays showing us lots of history and animals and fauna etc.
The name Winnipeg (nickname Winter-peg!) comes from the Western Cree words for "muddy, or turbid waters". The region was a trading centre for aboriginal peoples before the arrival of Europeans. French traders built the first fort on the site in 1738.
Fur traders first arrived during the late 17th century and Manitoba was the heart of Rupert's Land, owned by the Hudson's Bay Company. Manitoba became a province of Canada in 1870 after the Red River Rebellion. A general strike took place in Winnipeg in 1919, and the province was hit hard by the Great Depression. This led to the creation of what would become the New Democratic Party of Manitoba, one of the province's major political parties and currently in power.
Manitoba is home to a diverse species of animals. The province is especially noted for its polar bear population; Churchill is commonly referred to as the "Polar Bear Capital".
We walked towards the river, The Forks, which was a nice area and plenty of tourists and birds around! We brought plenty of souvenirs!
We went to jump on the bus to head back to the hotel and the shopping area but I jumped on the right bus, but going the wrong way! So we had to get off and get back on the other side of the road! We finally arrived at the shopping mall and had a wonder around and Stu brought some new jeans, as his other pair have a hole in them!
We headed back to the hotel and had some down time and another great shower! We got into watching border control Canada. The people that were trying to come through with a 'history was amazing! The Canadians are so strict!
We went for dinner somewhere different before we got another great night sleep before another long bus ride tomorrow!
