We decided today would be relaxed and we would not try and do too much. We drove into town and to the Botanic Gardens and had a walk through them to the playpark and the girls had a good hour playing there. David went to the car and got the pushchair so we could walk into the town. When he had done that we got some duck food and fed the ducks, one of the little so and sos grabbed the whole bag from David and did a runner.
A much longer walk into the town when we had expected. The streets were filled with students in fancy dress as it is O week. I do not know what the girls must make of NZ cities, they must reckon they are full of bonkers. Alex modified this today to Bonkers Students. On the way into town we stopped and had lunch at a Japanese place which was yummy and good value at $10 for a bento box. The girls shared a children's one and inhaled the contents including the sushi. We then called into a book shop to pick up a new book for me as I have run out and Elizabeth through an almighty fit, just unbelievable.
We then carried onto the Octagon which had a good view down to the station and the St Paul's cathedral and town hall on. Alex requested we look into the cathedral so she I did so.
We then walked to the museum passed a large queue of students who were heard to say 'why would you bring your children to this ?' . Anyway we made it to the museum and went to the butterfly section. The hands on science was excellent and Alex enjoyed the butterflies. Elizabeth slept for most of the visit but was awake early enough to had some butterfly activity. David then left to collect the car and meet us at the lower car park. I tried to leave but Elizabeth through an almighty fit, the tantrum was just incredible. I tried to manage it but failed she insisted on running away, would escape from her pram and just was a complete nightmare. I cannot describe how bad it was but it lasted for about an hour.
Back home via the supermarket to buy food for tonight
