Up early today, 6am for a 7am leave. Traffic was great and we arrived at T5 at 8:40am. The traffic to the other terminals was quite a lot heavier. We dropped our bags at the fast drop, not sure what time saving this gave us! We then went for coffee and breakfast with Granny. Girls were too busy playing to eat their sandwich as the café had a nice little play area for the girls. We said our goodbyes to granny and headed through security.
Getting through security took a while but in fact went pretty smoothly. We got a lot of compliments about the trunkies as we wheeled the girls through. We spent some time faffing buying another travel pillow, collecting our currency and some water for the flight. By the time we had done all of this it was time to make our way to the gate. Our flight was leaving from gate B34 and Alex was really excited when she realised that she was going to have to get a train to the plane. We reached the gate and found seats, then the plane was delayed 30 mins. We were then preboarded as we had the girls with us. The girls did really well on the flight and I only used the goodie bags to keep them happy and occupied. Elizabeth slept for about 2 hours sleep, Alex had slightly less but I think she would have had more had she not woken up to be promptly sick all over herself, her seat and in fact, everywhere. David was in the loo and I was the other side of Elizabeth so I had to scoot through the galley while asking the crew for tissues, bags etc. I am so glad Janette suggested taking spare clothes in hand luggage otherwise I would have had a naked baby. She was also ill on landing but she had nothing left, poor baby. I did say to Granny on the way to the airport the girls had been ordered children's meals and I would be OK as long as it was not chicken nuggets - it was!
Immigration in LA went smoothly and we were pushed up the queue when they saw we were travelling with small children. I am confused as to why we still have to fill out the green immigration form given we did the online form thing. Once we cleared customs we entered the horror of arrivals, it is just chaos, badly signed and just a nightmare.
We eventually managed to catch the bus to the car hire place where we were stiffed for additional charges. I really hate it when the rate you are given changes because they then add on location charges, tourism taxes, normal tax, a service charge etc etc etc. Anyway we hit the road at 5:40pm on a Friday night just in time to hit the LA rush hour traffic. We arrived at our hotel, Camelot Inn and Suites, at about 7pm. Elizabeth was fast asleep but Alex was wide awake and causing chaos. David and I were really tired and so we ordered food in from a local restaurant. We all ate well except Elizabeth who remained fast asleep .The hotel looks close to Disney but we are not sure exactly where the entrance is etc.
