Hey Everyone, hope ur all good.
Well im in Cambodia in a cllo place called Siem Reap, but it was a long hard bumpy road to get here!!! Il come bak to that in a bit.
Well After my last blog i tried to sleep, little did i know i wasnt alone in bed, it was crawling with bed bugs, at least 3 different types and when i squashed them they left little blood spots all over the sheet, which normally would have grossed me out big style but i was shattered by then so just squished all the ones i could see and got in my sleepingbag liner. The room was pretty much a concrete box with a small window framing a beautious brick walll with a loud vent on it! Also the club downstairs was loud so as u can imagine i gave up, got dressed and went down to the bar where i sat in a daze for a few hours watching the cockroaches and mangey cats stroll about mindin their own business!
The next morning after checking out nd throwing up some weird stuff - almost didnt make it to the loo, i was sat outside the "hotel" with my backpack when suddenly my stomach went nuts, so i hastily squirmed around trying to get my bag on mearly taking out some man in the seat nxt to me and bolted (with hamster cheaks) to the loo.
After that i jumped in a tuk tuk (the dude was trying to get me to get some petrol voucher thing by blagging it with the tourist info place - have no idea wat he was on about) to the place where i was meeting the group. The hotel was like a palace in comparison and it had air con woooo! i met the group that nite and we all went out for a meal and drinks - everyone is wicked, theres a nice mix of aussies, irish, english and danish all with lots of stories. A few ppl are doing a similar thing to me which is cool.
The next morn we got a 5 hour bus to the Cambodian border and then walked through with some men wheeling all the bags on a mahoosive cart. we then got on another bus which drove us the remaining 6 hours on the "worst road in Cambodia" and oh my god this road was bad, the bus was fallin apart anyway but the crazy suicidal driver drove over the bumps so fast that we were all literally bouncing off out seats. i was vibrating so much and struggling to keep my head up by the end it was crazy. As bad as that was i would change it though cos we drove through all the paddy fields and saw the way all the people live - cows being walked around and little shacks all built themselves. it was such an incredible insight into their world i spent the whole journey being utterly moved by it all.
When we arived in Siem Reap it was such a contrast with huge luxury hotels and spas and nice shops etc, it was a shock just to see a brick building (and for everything not to be jiggling up and down - they decided to tarmac the last 10 minutes of the damn road). They place we r staying is basic but clean and no bugs, and i had the best sleep ever!
The next day we went to angkor wat temple, another one and then the one where they shot tombe raider with a huge tree growing through it - it was awsome! I wouldnt do it justice if i tried to describe it so u can see the pic wen i upload them. The heat was intense walking round them and one of the girls almost collapsed, we were all dripping.
In the eve we went out for diner and then to a travellers bar/club and had an excellent night, we got our little cambodian tour guide drunk - hillarious. Me and Paddy (one of the irish boys) were the last ones out and ended up walking home at 5 in what i thought was a monsson but was aparently just a shower.
And that brings us to today, we have a free morning and then wer going to the floating village in the aft, shud be good!
I have 3 mossie bites, 1 ant bite and 2 blisters so far- not bad for me.
Better go, have a long stroll bak in the mid-day heat (yes mum i have sunscreen!)
Love u all lots, take care xxxxxx
