On Tuesday we left Lexington and went to Beach Harbor MI. It was an absolutely perfect boating day. Seas were one foot and under, and it was warm and sunny. For once the forecast was as nice if not nicer than the predictions.
Harbor Beach is another man made harbor. The harbor is surrounded by a large rock seawall and the marina itself has just been rebuilt. While we were there they were still screwing down the deck boards on the dock. The dock master told us they just finished the water and electric in the last couple of days.
I found one of the bilge pumps had a bad float switch, and spent two hours replacing it. It should only have taken 20 minutes but because I could barely reach the switch it took much longer.. When working on the boat we practice Boat Yoga. Nothing is easy to access, and you have to bend and twist while laying over the engine or something else equally uncomfortable.
The town is very small and definitely has the small town feel. Wednesday morning we went to the grocery store, but it had not open yet. A lady from the restaurant next door came out and told us we could go thru the restaurant to enter the store, and someone should be there by the time we were done shopping. We decided to eat breakfast at the restaurant, then we did our shopping.
After breakfast and shopping we spent the day bike riding. It was a very relaxing two days. I did spend some time doing boat chores.
We only stayed here two nights because Wednesday's forecast was for 6' to 8' seas. The winds started Tuesday night and kept building thru the night. Hopefully Thursday's forecast is right and we will be able to travel.
Thursday's destination is East Tawas. We will be traveling almost every day the weather allows us to until Monday the 26th. We have reservation at Mackinaw City Marina on the 26th, if need be we can modify them but one of our friends has a appointment there on the 27th.

Mark Hoagland Love reading about your experiences! Of course I'm glad to see you two enjoying cycling too lol. If you haven't tried one yet up in that area they have these things called "meat pies". sort of looks like a calzone. They are so good. I've been to all 5 Great Lakes and Superior was my favorite. Sail on and enjoy retirement!!!
Valerie E.Jones e Jones they even let you in the store before it was open?! That's small town alright.
