Today after a short run up the St Clair River we reached Lake Huron. Lake Huron is the second largest of the Great Lakes covering over 23,000 square miles, and has the largest shore line of all the great lakes. We will be staying close to the western shore of the lake most of the time we are on the lake. Today's trip covered about 20 miles of about 200 miles that we will be doing.
The conditions we perfect with seas under 2 feet directly on the bow. It was sunny, warm and light winds. It was a perfect travel day.
Our destination was is Lexington MI. Lexington State Marina is another State marina that caters to transient boaters. The marina is surrounded by a 20' manmade rock seawall with a walkway on top. As we walked the seawall there were kids jumping from the rocks into the lake. I would have loved to do it, but I could not figure out what scared me more, the jumping or trying to climb back up the seawall. Oh to be young again.
Nick & Ginger (Ginger Gale) and Mark & Karen (Kay Dee) are here and we will be traveling with them throughout Lake Huron. Monday we went for a 12 mile bike ride exploring Lexington and Croswell.
Tuesday we will be heading to Harbor Beach, about a 5 hour run.
