Today we started our Great Loop Adventure. We left Bordentown Yacht Club with three other boats, heading to Delaware City Marina. Inconseavable, Probably Shouldn't and Castaway. Bill and Emily joined us on our boat. They will be with us until we leave Baltimore Yacht Club.
Our plan is to spend the night here and continue on to Baltimore Yacht Club for their opening day weekend. While Baltimore Yacht Club is not on the route, why not start the Loop with a quick side trip with some friends.
Today's weather forecast was sunny early in the day, changing over to mostly cloudy, and finally heavy starting mid afternoon. We planned the trip to arrive around 1pm, to avoid the rain and it worked. As the last boat was tying up at the dock it started pouring. Tomorrow's weather forecast is not looking very good rainy and windy.
Todays trip was 69 nautical miles and took 4 hours and 15 minutes.
Over-all the trip was uneventful with the most excitement coming as we passed Penns Landing. We passed four naval vessels. They were 116' Yard Patrol boats from the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
We did have our first repair of the trip. One of the zippers on the front isinglass windows pulled apart at the seam. Fortunately I was able to sew it back on while we were at the dock. Let's hope that any future repairs are as quick and easy.
