sharon's ventures down under
Hello all, yes i am still alive. Sorry in delay in writing this, its been a very busy 2 weeks since i last wrote. I picked up a contiki tour on the 18th June in sydney, which has brought me up the east coast to cairns. The group were great, there were about 35 of us, loosing some on the way and gaining some too. In the last two weeks i have visited Coffs harbour, surfers paradise, stayed in a farm, visited brisbane, noosa, harvery bay, stayed on Fraser Island, Rockhampton (home of the mullet hair cuts!), long Island and up to cairns. As you can imagine being on a contiki tour there has been lots of partying, late nights and early starts to take us to the next stop. I have made some great friends on this trip but sadly no gossip for me! The tour leader and driver were fantastic and made the trip what it was. Along with the partying i had done loads of things, including attempting to learn to surf in Surfers paradise, but unfortunately my ankle wasnt quite strong enough for that yet. I went sea kayaking in the pouring rain, not much fun as we were cold and wet. the kayak had to be steered by peddles and my co-ordination wasnt the best so we ended up all over the place, its not easy to steer the kayak with your feet and paddle at the same time! We had a night out at Draculas, which was a meal and entertainment, fantastic night, they were very clever in the acts they were doing, singing, dancing, puppetry. We stayed on a farm in the middle of now where, we had a bush dance, and all the girls dressed up as cow girls, that was a great night, fun had by all. Our next stop was Fraser island where we had to pack down as the ferry couldnt take all our lugguage. Again another dressing up night, we had a pyjama party, where everyone dressed up in pj's, some very interestng sights! We stayed in echo lodges which was great fun. At one point we ended up playing spin the bottle and truth of dare, not doen that since i was 18! I came off very lightly tho. On fraser island we also got to go out on a 4 wheeldrive vehicle through the rainforest and ended up at lake mckenzie, an amzing place, the water was so clear. From fraser island we ended up in rockhampton where we got to go to a crocodile farm for the evening, the town is renowned for mullet haircuts, nice.
