Got up just after 8am, & L made a huge fruit salad, so that the kids had eaten a good, nutritious, breakfast, before this afternoon's inevitable sugar-fest! We were all fed, showered & changed into our smartest clothes by 11am, then we drove to the church where Mark & Susana got married. There was a slight delay, as the priest had forgotten that he had a christening to perform at midday, but eventually, things got underway. The service took just over half an hour, & at the point at which Nicole was actually baptised, J&M went up to the font at the front of the church to get a better view, & take video & photos!
After the service, we drove to the hotel in Zacatecas for drinks & a meal, & were introduced to a multitude of friends & extended family! The meal was excellent, especially the starter:- a bowl of cream of red & green chilli soup, nicely presented, & very tasty! The white wine (Mexican - chosen by Mark, btw!) was "very German" in taste & not that great! The red was a nice Italian that slipped down very easily! The kids enjoyed their burger & chips, and (as predicted) a ton of sweets! Nicole spent the afternoon being passed from person to person, getting a lot of attention, & being generally fussed over (as it should be!).
By about 7pm, the guests were leaving, so we packed up & drove home. After the kids had gone to bed, D made chicken & chips from yesterday's leftovers. After eating, the girl's turned in, & D & Mark sat in the kitchen drinking red wine & chatting, until 11pm.
