We arrived in Buenos Aires with no accomodation booked. We'd requested an apartment on Air BnB before we left Mendoza, but they still hadn't replied by the time we reached Buenos Aires, so we were left with our back up plan: rock up at a hostel and hope they had room for us. Since our bus was to leave at 2pm, we had very limited time between check out at 10am and departure time to do anything. But somehow we fit a small adventure in. Firstly we needed bus food, so we visited the supermarket and found a great deal - 35 pesos for 12 pastries, and some nuts. We were picked up by Ampora by our Mendoza-born guide, Melanie. We were the first of only two couples on the tour, and for a second we were quite nervous; what if they were were 50 year old grumpy old people? The most interesting thing to happen on our overnight bus to Mendoza was the border crossing at 4am. Luckily we were both at the front of the line, so we didn't have to spend that much time outside of the bus in the cold, and it was relatively quick, too, but after everyone was back on the bus, we had to unload, wait, and then jump back on.
