Finally feeling a little more alive we packed and left the Adventure Brew and hopped aboard the Bolivia Hop bus and were greeted by a bunch of very hungover Brits and a very gay, very alive Bolivian tour guide in knee high woollen socks. after a brief spiel about the hop service, we drove through La Paz and El Alto down to Lake Titicaca where we left the bus for a short boat ride, complete with hitchhiking dog, across the Tiquina Channel. As there are no roads connecting La Paz to Copacabana, we watched in fascination as our bus was loaded onto a boat and ferried across the Lake!
Fun fact: Despite it being a land-locked country, Bolivia still boasts a rather large navy!
Once our bus finished its slow, regal journey across the lake, we loaded back up sans dog and drove to Copacabana where, after dropping bags off at the hostel and a quick bite to eat - jamon and queso sandwich (BIG mistake) we jumped topside on a boat to the Isla de Sol. Up in the open with us were a Kiwi couple who had been travelling for years and a French Chem Eng guy doing an internship in Brazil. Down below deck were an Australian family of 5 - the obnoxious kind - and 2 touristy Korean couples. Much more fun up top! After a roughly hour long boat ride, we were given an hour and a half to explore the island, featuring: donkeys, llamas, a small town, sun temple ruins, beautiful paths and many stray dogs. Following a great walk sans the Australian family, we reboarded the boat, where we bore witness to a fantastic thunderstorm over Puno. Towards the end of this trip, my stomach remembered that it was still quite ill, and so once returning to the hostel, we remained there for the rest of the evening.
