After 2 days of tourism indulgence we were happy to see the real Hawaii, and how awesome it is. The Big Island has it all: sun, rain, mango's, surinam cherries, longans, an active volcano, a dormant volcano, volcano hiking trails, awesome snorkelling, local markets, old school american hippies, black sand beaches, a music festival (puna music festival), lush rain forests, star gazing on the biggest (by mass) mountain in the world, amazing food and tasty craft beer.
Aaron's tasting notes - there won't be many places where you can go from enjoying a pint of 'red sea of cacao' (imperial red ale with chocolate, sea salt, pink peppercorns and molasses) or 'tall, dark and mandarin' (local tangerines and cacao) at the highest brewery in Hawaii (Big Island Brewhaus) to relaxing with a pint of 'hula hefeweizen' (banana and herbal) or 'kolo brown' (coconut and coffee) by the beach at Kona Brewing Company. This is liquid aloha.
