Day 27: Memphis
Free day to explore.
I sleep in (still feeling the effects of Nashville) then meet up with my room mate Sabine for a tour of The Gibson Factory.
I'm in guitar heaven amongst the Les Paul's and special editions.
We then go for a quick drink at BB Kings before indulging in Deep fried Strawberries at a local resteraunt.
Surprisingly, they don't taste too bad due to the mountain of whipped cream they come with!
After our little break, we take the streetcar (tram) to Sun Studio where we are given a tour of the place where the likes of Elvis and Johnny Cash first recorded.
Sun studio was awesome and the tour guide made it so much fun, that I could actually picture Elvis recording there.
After Sun, we got back to our hotel and freshened up for our big night on Beale St.
Beale St- I am in awe as I walk down the street I've dreamed of visiting for over 20yrs.
The first thing you see is BB Kings on the corner and then as you enter the street, there are countless bars, each serving alcohol outside and each with their own band playing either blues, bluegrass to rockabilly.
The atmosphere is amazing.
It's Friday night and the group have come to BB Kings for dinner.
After dinner he house band kicks off and we all hit the dance floor as we down beer and white Sambucas!
I end up meeting this cute black guy Will, whom I dance and have a great time with.
Memphis has been so worth the wait.
Everyone has had an awesome time and doesn't want the night to end.
