Hello All!
We're just about to leave Kanchanaburi so we thought we'd update you with what we've been up to the last few days. On Sunday we went to the Monkey School which has 17 monkeys, including a baby! When we arrived we were the only ones there and had the School to ourselves. It was amazing to be able to touch, feed and hold them. Their hands are surprisingly soft and much like ours! We literally fell in love with them!!
After the arrival of what felt like a million Thai tourists, we were treated to a show of what the monkeys have been trained to do. This included collecting coconuts, playing basketball, riding bikes, diving and counting! Being the only English ones there, we were picked on as participants for the show - lucky us!! Kie had to show off his basketball skills while Sophie showed she's not a psychic when she was unable to identify the number 7 without looking (the monkey showed her up and did it first time!!!) An absolutely awesome day and well worth a visit to anyone staying in Kanchanaburi, especially as the Tuk Tuk taxi took us, dropped us off, waited and took us back to our hotel all for just £4!!
The following day we headed to Erawan National Park to see the Waterfalls. The Falls were amazing, there are 7 tiers of waterfalls which you can swim in. We only made it to the fifth tier before the heavens opened. We were trapped in a shelter with a German couple, while the path turned into a river/mudslide!!! Deciding that we would never make it up to tier 7 and back in the rain, we decided to make our way back down to the beginning where once again we were able to see some more monkeys - this time they were wild ones, and the signs all around the park warned us that they could be "fierce"!!!!
After getting soaked through, we headed home to yet more downpours and chilled for the evening before heading back to Bangkok today. Our plans are to head to Chiang Mai within the next few days after meeting up with one of Kie's friends.
Take care, lots of love Sophie and Kie xx
