Hi everyone we've had a quiet couple of days here on the farm so not much to tell you but we do have a few stories to share.
Yesterday we had a nice lie in for the first time in a while! The morning consisted of us having another go in the Ute around the farm, and Soph drove quite a fair way to the nearest town. Em then had a go and had a near death experience when she almost drove down a pit. We then came home and did some sun bathing outside which was nice and relaxing and caught up with Instyle magazine.
After lunch we went to Alec's house whio is Mary's nephew and another farmer who works with Lester. He showed us his tractor ; ) no we mean an actual tractor (sorry it's quite late, the wit isn't on top form tonight!) which we got in and the wheels were almost as big as us! Their 13 year old daughter then took us for a drive in her car which was slightly concerning but impressive as when we were 13 we had only just mastered the bus. Had a delicious dinner with them of shark and chips.
Later that evening when we were home Lester and Mary took us outside to see the stars as the sky is so clear here. We all lay on the grass as Lest showed us the milky way and some others that we can't remember the names of! A very pretty view.
Today (Monday) we were taken sheep shearing in the morning which was quite funny and Em tackled a sheep but only managed to get about an inch of wool! soph played it safe and took the pictures. Met some nice guys at the sheep shearing shed, (romantic setting we know!) who were explaining how to shear sheeps. On the drive home we saw a 6 foot Dorga snake across the road. Soph was very excited as she'd been looking out for a snake since we arrived!
We then went to Jim and Audrey's house for roast dinner which was delicious although it didn't beat Barb and Nick's! After lunch we went for a swim in the local swimming pool which we had all to ourselves, it was so nice we found some rubber rings and floated in the sun. Although Soph did get in e few dives with the goggles, unfortunately Em didn't have her camera on site so no snaps of that one i'm afraid. Then the school kids arrived and we made a quick exit.
We stopped off at the supermarket on the way home to stock up on what we call food, crisps, chocolate, cookies and cheese straws. We also bought some pudding for the evening meal which we've just eaten and went down a treat. After dinner Lest gave us a lesson in how to escape attackers by pushing their thumbs together and swinging the arms out - to be honest, think we'll just go for the good old fashioned kick in the watsits. Although you never know it might come in handy so watch out lads when we're back!
To finish the day off we both went for a bike ride round the farm with parrots flying along side us which was pretty amazing. Although neither of us had been on a bike in about ten years we were pretty good, but struggled slightly when it came to the gears!
Just to let you all know our plans have changed slightly and now we are flying to Ayers rock On Saturday (17th), staying there for a few nights then getting a greyhound bus to Alice Springs and staying there for a few nights - in total about a week. From Alice we are flying straight to Sydney and missing out Adelaide, Canberra and Melbourne as we want to spend more time in Sydney as we think we will enjoy it more there. We will work our way up the coast from Sydney to Cairns and fly out from Cairns on the 2nd May to New Zealand.
Keep posting messages everyone, missing you all. Lots of Love. XxXxXxXxXxXxXxX
