helllo. We stayed in Phuket that night at a hostel close to the ferry which took us to koh phiphi early in the morning with two friends from our tour. This should have been a pleasant experience seeing as it was hot, nice breeze, elinor had taken her sickness tablets so no complaining from her and we saw dolphins.however the overly cooked german families who managed to get me covered in ice cream and were offering me 'fags' whlst drinking beer at 8 am did not make this a journey i want to remember.
it was only 1 1/2 hours follwed by a hike up a mountain as me and elinor thought we would get prepared, book ahead and found this wonderful discount tree house! no wonder it was discount it was up a mountain and koh phiphi doesnt have cars so on this particually hot day we trekked with our bags to this place only to be told by the kind receptionist that they sent a guy down to collect us with his trolley. when we reached reception it was a further 100 steps up to our hut. despite all of this it the location was amazing and safe from any tsunami. being so high up we also benefitted from a nice cool breeze.we spent the rest of the day on the beach.
the next day we trekked it further up the mountain to the viewpoint which overlooked the whole island. another day on the beach followed by the full moon party in the evening. This wasnt the proper full moon party, we were on the wrong side of thailand for the but koh phiphi tried its best to live up to it. we both thought it would be wise to start with the cocktail bowls and make our way to the beach where there was alot of fire throwing about. with more vodka buckets i managed to win tequila with some limbo under a flaming pole and elinor got us another bucket by her amazing drunken dancing! which we then had to trade in order to escape the fire throwers who were so in awe of our wonderful fire limbo they wouldnt leave us alone. we decided we would prefer our freedom than another bucket and clingy fire throwers.
the next day we headed to koh lanta on a ferry which was very empty. koh lanta was very empty so after opting for a bungalow with air conditioning and it not being quite up to our expectations, despite being on a beach, we moved the following day to very hippying bungalow resort just up the road. this was lovely, right on the beach with lots of hamocks. we had booked elephant trekking in the morning so was picked up for that as soon as we had moved to our new location. The trekking was so much fun! uncomfortable but fun. the guy who was with us let us bare back ride and elinor took to this very well! when we got back we saw the baby of the elephant we were riding and fed him bananas.
after this we headed to the beach but with elinors sunburn we didnt stay long and hired a moped. i managed to fall off this after being on it 3 seconds and was very lucky there was no traffic at that point but the lady we hired from was very unsymapthetic and didnt seem to care if i was ok! cow. me and elinor both soon got the hang on it and went for a ride for a few ours before giving it back.
the next day we headed to krabi. we are now there and have taken in a tiny puppy which sits outside our bungalow door crying.
