Thursday October 11th
DisneyLand time! Setted off to catch the Amtrak train to Anaheim at 9.40am. The journey was about 45mins. We were pleased that we still got the valid Amtrak rail pass to get the train tickets to save money.
Once arrived at the train station in Anaheim, there was a shuttle bus that can take us straight to Disneyland Resort. As we were about to board on with our fares ready, we learnt that the machine on the bus wouldn't accept coins, only notes. Unforunately we didn't have any notes on us, so we had to resort ourselves to use the taxi!
We were quite lucky as there was a short queue at the ticket booth to change our CityPass for 3 days hopper ticket, but naturally, there was a very long queue to get into the entrance of the Disneyland.
After 10 mins wait, we were finally in, hitting the Main Street first with all the shops. Our first stop was Adventureland as it was the nearest to visit. Daniel was disappointed that Indiana Jones Ride was closed due to the refurbishment. We decided to visit the Jungle Cruise which was next to it. At one point, Lisa jumped with fright when the fake crocodile made its appearance in the river!
We moved onto New Orleans Land and visited Pirate of Caribbean, a boat ride seeing all the displays. After leaving the ride, there was a couple of staff giving away the pin trading necklaces. We grabbed a couple as we thought that with that, you collect the pin badges from each ride you visit as we noticed that alot of people had plenty of badges on their necklaces. After few rides, we didn't get anything and couldn't work out how to do it. We did know that you can trade 2 maximum per cast members per day. We did trade one of our badges with the cast member as we already had 2 badges each on ours. That cast member then explained how it worked. We had to buy a couple of pin badges from any shops and then meet any cast members to trade the pins. We thought its very expensive to buy each pin badge so we didn't bother to do that in the end.
After that, we had an early lunch so we can use all afternoon to go on the rides/shows. On the way round the park, the next ride we visited was Haunted Mansion Holiday. It was really for children ;)
On the our journey, we did spot the few characters from Winnie the Pooh Adventures. Splash Mountain was the another water ride we went on. Not even a spot of wetness on Daniel! Lisa did get splashed onto but very briefly.
There was a new ride that recently was opened called Finding Nemo which was a submarine ride. It was the longest queue wait that we have experienced for that day. It was okay but it wasn't what we were expecting. It was difficult to understand as there was alot of talking going on, explaining what was happening on our ride.
It was a very big park to get round in one day so we were pleased that we had 3 days hopper tickets. We planned to have one day in Disneyland, one day in California Adventure Park. Whatever it was leftover to do, visit both parks on the 3rd day.
We were surprised to hear that the park was open till midnight! But unfortunately we had to get the train back to LA. We had to miss the parade but planned to see it on the last day (the 3rd day) Again, we had to use the taxi to return back to Amtrak Station.
Eventually returned back to our room by 10pm! We were so knackered but still no rest for the wicked as we have to do that all again for the next day for California Adventure Park which was based next door to DisneyLand.
We were quite lucky that we managed to go on many rides without having to wait for too long.
