El Campo, Texas! You'll never guess... we found more relatives! We stopped for coffee on Thursday at Tim's Aunt Johanna and Uncle Earl's - and we are still here. It's been the longest coffee break I've ever known. Aunt Johanna is one of Grandma Annabel's 10 younger siblings (the sixth daughter of eight girls and three boys). She is strikingly similar to Grandma Annabel, and so she has become Aunt-Grandma to us. We are camped at Stacy and Jeanette's catfish farm (Tim's cousin) and have been fed, and fed, and fed some more - with meals in between!
It is our first experience "harvesting" fish. The proper term (said with a southern drawl) is seining. Tim and Eli were all over this adventure. But it's definitely a group effort to get an entire pond full of fish into a little cage to be loaded onto a truck and hauled away live.
The kids have been having a blast with their newly discovered cousins, swimming in the pond, riding ponies, catching baby bunnies (which can NOT come with us!), feeding cows, shooting water turkeys, and living the country life. I was surprised at my own reaction to the familiar crow of the little rooster. We really do miss our animals.
Tomorrow however, the longest known coffee break will be over, and we will move on. If you have been on Facebook you will know that we have recently run out of Tim Horton's coffee (Canada's best). It was a sad day indeed. However, Tim's cousin Wendy married a lovely Canadian man who so graciously shared their last grounds with us this evening. Apparently you can order it on line and it will be delivered to your home! Now if only I had an address....
