My dear Eastern friends, I have no idea why you ever left the Maritimes! Here a timeless legacy of charm and character survives - a heritage that only tide and time have changed. And the lobster is fantastic!
Yesterday we watched 40,000 kilometers roll over on the odometer... So far our Canadian Atlantic sojourn has taken us through New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and into Nova Scotia. We are in Peggy's Cove near Halifax having just left Lunenburg where the Blue Nose II is resting. She is in dry dock undergoing some serious restoration but is still just as impressive as her forerunner on the dime.
We went from Canning to Digby on our way south east across the Province but on a whim stopped in Annapolis Royal to walk through the Historic Gardens. We weren't expecting much so early in the spring but the gardens were exquisite. The early roses were already in bloom, as well as some of the most exotic trees and flowers in North America. Even in the rain we were not daunted! Of course, a strange and hearty dose of 14 year old humor can make any event remarkable... May the pictures speak for themselves!
Quotes of the week:
"It's gonna be weird in a kitchen where all our butts don't touch while we cook."
Mom plugged into to her ipod: "Are you mumbling on purpose?"
"It's easy to fast in this family. I keep losing my appetite!"
Naomi: "Can I drive?"
Eli: "No! I have only ridden with you twice, and I have soiled myself both times!"
