Good evening!
I am currently on the bottom bunk in our new log cabin on a beautiful campsite by a river in Andalsnes. It's very hot in the cabin but pretty cold outside. We've all had tea outside in glorious sunshine with coats, jeans and hats on :)
This morning was an early start as I said in my pervious blog, thank god I had a good nights sleep! After a few hours drive we got to the Lillehammer Bod Sled track! The journey up to Lillehammer was great and got more picturesque as we got further away from Oslo. Before heading to the track we went to had a look around Lillehammer town centre, this is where I achieved the best thing since slice bread! So when I was packing for this trip it was a pretty emotional time at home as I was leaving school and I suppose I didn't really think about the fact I was heading north and eventually going uni the Arctic Circle. I packed for a summer holiday in heat and not the cold! So, when we got to Lillehammer and it was a good bit colder than in Oslo I went in search of warmth! I refused to pay much for warm clothing as in a months time I won't need any kind of warm clothing what so ever! After a look a round I stumbled across a men's shop selling pretty nice clothes. A tried a Super Dry hoodie on for 400NOK, about £31, but decided it was too much to spend. A few shops down I found a great looking hoodie for 75NOK, £5.80!! To say I was happy was an understatement! After making my purchase I got some milk and bananas from the super market and went back to the coach well chuffed with my bargain! :)
When we arrived at the Bob track I realised it wasn't quite a real on as it was a bob sleigh on wheels! However the standing at the top of the track was very cool and I rhymed of lots and lots of quotes from Cool Runnings! Myself, Kat, Kate and Caitlin were in the 3rd car to go. After pushing the 2nd car I realised that the push off made all the difference! I asked lots of lads to give us a shove and off we went! It was amazing! Apparently we got to 3G forces and we completed the track in 1:04:99! To my delight we came first out of all the cars! I was mega chuffed and secretly sang the national anthem in my head!! Haha!
We then had an amazing lunch before setting off on another long drive to our final destination. On the way we stopped at a traditional Norwegian church and also a supermarket so Chad could stock up on food. At around 7pm we arrived at our new campsite by the river. The scenery had changed dramatically and were are now surrounded by sheer cliff faces of Fjords on every side. It beautiful and there are waterfalls everywhere too! I went for a walk to the local town get some beers but was gutted to find it cost £11 for a 6 pack of Larger! I didn't fancy a walk back to the site so oh the correct road I thumbed a lift in a camper van with a lovely couple from Belgium. Result :)
Tonight we had burgers and chocolate brownie!! Even though I have my Juice Plus I can't see me using it anytime soon :) After our meal we chilled and played table tennis. It is now 10:55pm an the sun has only just set. It's still light outside too!
Im having an early night as tomorrow we are up really early to go on a Fjord Cruise and make the most of our time in this beautiful place!
