Hello,
It's 6:02pm and I'm just having a chill in my cabin. It's cloudy outside, no rain though and a tropical 12 degrees!
The last 2 days have been tough driving days. We are now in Northern Norway having crossed the border earlier today.
Yesterday, Thursday, we set off after breakfast and had a long day ahead. Just after lunch we arrived in Trondheim and had a wander around the town in which a local festival seemed to be taking place. There were little stalls everywhere and lots things going on.
Our next stop was Hell, literally Hell! There was absolutely nothing there but a train station but we all piled out of the bus just for a picture to say we had been to Hell!
The next part of the journey was when Eduardo, our leader, kicked into action! He invited us 'newbies' up to the front one by one to answer a number of questions. Name, place of birth, one thing we love, one thing hate, what our plans were after the trip, the thing we were most looking forward to and our best/funniest drunken story!! My answers were.... Tom, Bolton, Grandma and Traveling, Manchester United, Moving to Dubai, Bob Sled and Arctic Plunge, My first night out with The Oaks when I ended up being sick in the back of a taxi over Mrs Brown's shoes!! :)
After my fellow newbies had answered the same questions the others in the group had to answer similar questions about another person! It was very funny and eventually we arrived at our new campsite.
The site wasn't the best but it did have a massive artificial football pitch! Now at home I'm not known to be a good footballer but with a group of Aussies and Kiwis I was awesome!! I enjoyed smashing a ball into the net and doing some exercise after sitting on a bus all day!
The evenings entertainment was the opening ceremony of the very first Viking Olympic Games!! The group was split into 4 groups and on Wednesday we had to come up with our own flag, song and name! My group is called Number Pun, and we created a Punofficial Flag to go with it. Puns seem to be popular with Aussies!
All the groups did their opening ceremony introductions and were graded by the 3 staff, Eduardo, Sabbi and Chad. Our group came last!
The first challenge was a football tournament which I took very seriously and changed into my shorts and Bolton shirt for! I honestly felt like I was representing England!! During the first game we won 4-1 and I managed to bag a goal cutting in from the left and smashing it in the bottom corner. We then went on to win the final!! :)
After the football I felt like I'd been hit by a bus! My legs were killing which was no surprise after playing in freezing conditions with no proper warm up! I went for a shower and then hit the sack!
This morning I woke up at 8am and we have again spent most of the day on this bus :( We stopped off at a few places on the way, such as some old carvings and then a massive waterfall. I managed to get a great jumping picture at the waterfall! We also stopped to have lunch at the boarder into Northern Norway. Again I got a great jumping picture in the middle of the road :)
For the last part of the journey today we did a quiz about the trip in our teams. Our team came joint first so overall we aren't doing too bad :)
On arrival in our new town, Bjerka, myself and Mitchell hopped in a canoe and went out onto the river... It was very peaceful and again some great views...
The reason for our 2 days of driving is to get up north. Tomorrow we are up at 6am to go on a glacier hike! :) We then head further north and cross into the Arctic Circle, somewhere I have never been before! I'm looking forward to the ice plunge and the wood sauna!
I hope you're all enjoying the blog back home. Sorry this one wasn't too exciting! I'm loving the comments on FB but if you would like to make it into the printed book at the end of my tour you need to write a message using the messages, not comments, on my blog :) To my amazement the only person to do this so far is Chezza!! :)
Bye for now!
