GOOD MORNING VIETNAM...(Well Afternoon actually!!!)

Left Hong Kong about lunchtime on antoher Cathay Pacific flight...they are really good by the way...Got to Ho Chi Minh city around 4pm and usual taxi ride into town. First time I had landed in a country and had no accomodation pre booked...got the taxi into main area of city where smaller hotels and bars are, managed to explain to taxi man I didint want the Hilton or other international chains or the like...but then again maybe he guessed this by my glowing red back pack and also I had shorts and a T shirt on, hardly good for any cocktail bar!

Jumped out and almost fell into a Yank coming out of a small hotel which seemed from the outside to be ok. Asked him if he was staying there and he was and said it was ok, so checked in. USD20 a night for a double en sutie room with satelite TV and bar...not bad. Spent the evening just taking it easy, some food and beers in a bar about 100 meters away studying my free tourist map of the city for things to do tommorrow.

A day of travel really....
