Agra - 22nd February 2008
The train was a simple delight! Train travel in India is meant to be good as per the Lonely Planet and something I have always wanted to do (yes I know I am a bit of a trainspotter!)
The carriages were fine, the beds comfy - a man came around with more pillows and blankets - lovely - the air con worked and regular visits of food and drinks service. What a great nights sleep I had - maybe no beers also helped!!
During the day the views of India - miles and miles of flat scenery of crops growing and people in the fields, all different types of trees and plants, were very memorable. Couldnt get too many photos as we were moving, but I will remember the views for a long long time.
Finally got to Agra at 7pm and taxied to the old area of Tajganj...the area which is lots of little alleyways, originally built for and by the 10,000 builders who built the Taj Mahal.
Found a nice hotel and I am on the top floor and it has a restaurant on this flor too. Apparently in the morning and evening you can see the Taj Mahal from it....I will check it out tommorrow.
Going sightseeing tommorrow, and this evening I finally found a decent internet cafe and managed to update like 9 days of my blog so its now fully up to date again!!!!! YIPPEE. Also burnt pictures onto DVDs so I have empty memory in my camera for tommorrow as guess I may need it. On Also booked a train to Dehli in 2 days time....starting to get organsed again and want to make the most of my last 3 weeks!
All the best to everyone...
Steve
