Shanghai - 18th and 19th February 2008
Took the 10am train to Shanghai, arrived around midday. Then underground to the hostel in town which was right by the bund. an excellent place with a good bar and food and so central for all the sights. As Shanghai is a focal point for flights in and out the hostel was mobbed by europeans.
Bags down and then out for the day of sightseeing. went onto the Bund to see the old buildings and also the view of the skyscrapers of Pundong district. then accross the water to go up the massive Pearl Tower into the viewing gallery. What views. I think this tower is the 3rd highest in the world.
Then, as true big kids out to go on the Maglev to the airport and back. A mini joy ride and only a fiver! It was great fun but the train only got up to 300khm....still damn fast though.
Then back to hostel for food, then out to see the nightlights of Nanjing Road.
Back to hostel for a few more beers and onto the pool tobale where I was pretty damn good.
19th February - Up and then off to airport. andy staying on as he had train tyo Beijing where his flight back to Oz goes from. Maglev to station then onto flight. Bit of a pain as it goes to Hong Kong, but via Bangkok. So loads of time on the plane.
Finaly arrived in Hong Kong and onto Hong Kong Island. Met up with Jimmy Griffin an old freind from Isle of Man and went for more than a few beers, a nice dinner and more drinks....lost each other late at night, my fault I think! - JIMMY - thanks for the hospitality mate...totally appreciated!
In my drunken stupor still managed to fnd my hotel room - I must be getting really good at this travelling lark!
Hope alls well with everyone back home
