Hong Kong to Mumbai - 20th February 2008

Woke up with a massive hangover! Promised myself not to drink in India the way I feel today!

Good plpanning that my flight didnt leave till 2pm and so manage to slowly wake up, then go out for breakfast and also get my hair cut. If I ever get to post pictures you will see that in China didnt get it cut at all as it was too cold and so let it grow for like 6 weeks, longest for me in years. Trouble is it only grows in little bits ont he top and so I look like that W****R that used to do a car programme on TV...Queton Wilson or something like that!

Off to airport and then the long flight to Mumbai. Manged to catch a few more kips on the plane.

landed in Mumbai around 9pm and got a taxi to my pre booked hotel. Well India is already a culture shock. The airport looked like something out of the 1960s, paperwork everywhere and then almost had to fight off people to get into one taxi as all taxi drivers wanted the fare. Start of the haggling fortnight I guess!

Got to my Hotel, called Singhs International. Dont know where the International bit came from, perhaps the cockroaches had been on vacation some time ago or perhaps they were non residents of India. I dont know but it was expensive and rough. Toilet had no flush, just a bucket. bed was like a brick. For only second time in the whole trip I got out my silk sleeping bag inner and slept in that. slept - well to be honest I didnt, as for one I didnt like the room and also I think I had done too much sleeping in the day.

The only positive thing about the room was that the air con worked - noisy but worked!

Tommorrow - I had already decided - first thing to the train station to get a ticket to Agra (Taj Mahal) and get out of Mumbai quickly.....
