Wats up!
Ok so we left Noosa and stopped at byron bay for a couple of days. On the way there we past through the hippy town of nimbin...this place is cool. Full of loads aged hippies, it was like walking back into the 60's. The nimbin museum and the hemp embassy were defo the funniest places (those of you who've been there will know why). Mums and dads now we know wat you guys got up to when you were younger!
Byron bay still kept the hippie feel about it although it was a lot more surf influenced. The weather was really good for us and we took a beautiful walk onto the beach only to bump into G! (a guy i was in uni with for those of you who dont know). One thing about travelling the world- you learn wat a small place it really is. On the same day we were in a shop and the guy who worked there recognised sam from sitting in a bar in bali and knew all the kids we were hanging out with...crazy.
From byron bay we drove down to Arrawarra surf camp and met the mojo surf crew. After a brief run through from Nat (the guy who ran it and also the coolest dude in the world) we got our wet suits on and got straight in. The sea was colder than anything i'd ever experienced before but we still had loads of fun. Think both our surfing skills have improved...and think i actually am starting to look ok on the board. I only stayed in the shallow end though as the waves were massive and i was scared of a shark attack but sam was off in the deep (at his own risk).
In the night they cooked us up a bbq and we all sat round a fire with a guitar and had such a laugh. Most of the guys at the camp had just gone there for a night but ended up staying there and working. They worked 3 hrs a day and surfed for the rest..sounds pretty cool!
We were woken up the next morning around 7am and suited and booted by 7.30am and in the sea surfin again by 8am...dedication! It was a lot harder this time though because of the low tide and we were also on smaller boards which meant paddling twice as hard but we still managed to catch some waves. I also saw 2 dolphins swim past me which was breath taking! Later i got the cnace to go on a tandem surf board...12.5 feet long where we both surfed the same board. It was such a laugh and sam reckons im the only person he knows to have ever have done that. As we were leaving Nat offered us a job there...renivating a house for a few hours a day and in return we could surf when ever and get free accomodation....Its something we both would have really loved to do and it sucks that we don't have the time but i guess it's a good excuse to come back.
From surf camp we moved on to Barrington. This was a beautiful ranch set inland. We got a private room as it worked out more of less the same price but it ended up being this amazing lodge..with a lush view of the river from our balcony and wallabees as our welcome party. The ranch had an outdoor hot tub so spent most of the evening in there kicking it under the stars...so nice!
The place also gave us all you can eat pizza freshly made infront of you and cooked in a stone oven..oh yes this was heaven!
Later in the evening one of the cowboys called shreck got his guitar out and we all had a sing song around the fire, blessed by the sounds of axel rose and metallica lol.
We left in the morning and began our journey to sydney.....
