Hey friends and family!
We arrived yestersay in xi'an, and in the last couple of days managed to pack a lot in!!
After another over night train (the longest of 19 hours), a couple of us decided to cycle the wall around xi'an, we decided to get double bikes! kimberly up in front and me on the back, which lasted only 5 minutes when kimberly was going too fast and not steering in a straight line! What we thought was a pleasurable tourist activity turned into a 9 mile bike ride, we didnt realise how big xi'ans wall was. So there we were bottoms aching when i heard screaming from the back and realised it was kimberly, when i finally stopped i realised kimberlys shoe lace had got stuck in the chains!! ( i did think it was getting harder to pedal-dead weight at the back!)
We later went out for a deserved chinese buffet! The tour group yet again were making jokes at our expense and really do think were slightly mad, and there not sure how were gona manage the rest of travelling on our own together!!
The weather is so cold at the moment we heard that its snowing in Beijing, so glad we left before that as kimberly and i only have summer clothes and were constantly layering all our summer wear. We keep getting funny looks in our leggings and sandals from the chinese as this weather is freezing for them!!
Today was amazing prob the best day so far, we went to the terra cotta warriors. As soon as kimberly and i went into the first pit our mouths dropped. It was amazing and so much history, i had to buy a book on the way out! Have taken amazin pictures. They are still doing restoration work it takes 20 months just to coplete one warrior. FANTASTIC!!
The food is good, our tour guide likes spicy food so always orders, very hot dishes and our mouths are on fire. The beer helps to cool it down. (yes thats right wine drinkers turned to beer! as its 40p for a big bottle!)
later were off for a duppling dinner, which we are told is a traditional tatse of xi'an!
Were off tomo for a day train and then getting a boat for two days, (Our tour guide said..one little problem...rats will be joining us on the boat!) so were really looking forward to our boat trip!!
We will fill you in with our next shinanagans in a couple of days.
Right go to go, a guy next to has lit up his 5th cigarette and we cant stand it, let alone see from the smoke!!
loads of love and kisses
