Took a day trip to Sintra & Cascassis organised byTravellers House . Four travelers. A young girl from Camberwell Australia who was studying law at Monash university and was studying in Florence and a fellow from London who was taking a quick holiday break before starting a new job. We were picked up in a van at 9:30am and drove to one of the palaces/ castles. We spent 2 hours looking around the castle- great veiws.
Then we went into the town of Sinatra for a look around- it was quite pretty. We then stopped at an impressive summer retreat established by a wealthy lady in the 18th century and was now run by the Sintra Historical Foundation. It had an extensive garden to look around at. On every hill in Sintra there was a castle. Being winter, not much seemed to be open, but I'm sure in the summer it would be a even better place to visit. On the way back we were taken along the coastal road. We stopped briefly at Cascassis, which looked like a beautiful summer resort. The sun even came out to show us how beautiful it can be. All four travellers chatted along while in the van. Arrived home at 6:30- a great day.
