Oooo my head. Actually I didn't feel that bad considering I drank the most I have drank in the last 10 weeks. I did pose the question why I prefer to drink too many Guinness on a Friday night - because it tastes good?! We got to bed early last night which meant we were awake by 7.30ish. Ju was plucked from her bed by Macie who insisted she read her a story from one of her many books. I was lucky enough to engage in my normal Sunday morning activity of catching up with World events on BBC news online. Unfortunately my computer was feeling sorry for itself as I had managed to crack the screen by grabbing it roughly last night. Obviously I don't know my own strength. I was pretty annoyed with myself, but accidents happen.
Matt cooked scrambled eggs on toast which was yummy. We headed off to the beach to burn some calories following our excesses yesterday. The weather was cloudy with light rain. This didn't matter as it was still warm. However I was reluctant to venture into the water, but upon closer inspection I decided it was warmer than the outside temperature. We spent a good hour splashing around with the children. Their confidence in the water was great to watch - especially small Macie who got buffeted around by the rough waters. Young Jed had no fear and had mastered his body board as he glided with the waves to shore. I spent a while pulling Macie up and down the beach on shallower water which pleased Macie and exhausted me.
We had built up an appetite for dinner. Matt and Camille took us to a great rural pub inland with the kids. The atmosphere was great as families ate and drank in a real traditional Oz pub. I enjoyed a cold pint of Guinness with Matt waiting for the food to be served. Jed ran wild around the large lawn area out front. I watched as people chatted over dinner. This was one of Matt's favourite places where he occasionally brings the family. Food served we all tucked in. The kids didn't seem that bothered about eating. They were more content to run wild with other children in the large garden. I couldn't help admire their fearless behaviour, especially Jed who ran bare footed over fallen leaves and through long grass. "Watch out for spiders" I heard Camille say. We had a snooze in the car on the way home. Enough of a rest to recharge our batteries before heading off out again.
We decided to go for a walk in the National Park in Noosa Heads. It was a lovely scenic walk along the coast. It was also a popular walk as we saw other holiday makers walking and running the foot path. We took in the views as the evening sky grew dark. Ju and I took delight in watching the children with their endless streams of energy. Matt, Jed and myself enjoyed a brief spell of rock throwing - a real boy thing to do. We tirelessly bounced stones of larger rocks as the girls sat by and watched... great fun.
In the evening we sat and watched the Fantastic Mr Fox. I vaguely remembered reading the book when I was a child. The animation was superb and the story pretty much the same as the book. Apparently this was Matt and Jeds favourite film - this was evident as Jed recited most of the dialogue before it happened. Ju feel asleep near the end of the movie with Banjo the dog firmly asleep curled up on her lap... it was definitely time for bed!
