Got our first sleeper train from Mumbai to Goa on Sunday evening - a 13 hour journey, arriving at midday on Monday. Arrived in a station which was a short auto-rickshaw ride to Goa's state capital - Panaji. Stayed in a hostal there for three nights and enjoyed the slower pace of things after the Mumbai madness. Last day in Mumbai today. Leaving for Goa on a sleeper train this evening. It's been a fun, hot and chaotic first few days in India. Food is delicious and cheap. Streets are bustling and hectic. Weather is hot and sticky with some rain but not as stormy as expected. Highlights: Elephanta Island to escape the crowds, had a nice peaceful time looking at caves and monkeys!
