Simon & Kim's Global Adventure
Whilst in Phoenix we stayed with Arthur, a friend of Andys. He was kind enough to pick us up from the bus station and let us stay at his ranch. Arthur looks after and trains horses for shows so took us for a tour and introduced us to them. There horses were so beautiful and well groomed. On our first evening we had a BBQ outside and watched the F16s flying overhead with their burners lighting the night sky.
The following morning when we went outside we realised how hot Phoenix is. By late morning it was above 40'C. We decided to take a walk to the Air Force training base to get a closer look at the pilots taking off and landing. There was little shade on the walk and we melted!! It was possibly the sweatest ten minute walk we've ever done despite it being completely flat! The air-con back at the house was amazing!!! In the afternoon we were dropped off in town and went to see the Heard Musuem. There was a lot of American Indian fine art, and a variety of paintings, drawings, prints, photography and sculptures. It was really interesting to look around and see the displays. Afterwards we had a walk around the town and went for a drink in Cooperstown - a bar owned by Alice Cooper. It was a sports bar come with numerous music related images and signed photos. Our last day was spent uploading photos and planning our next adventures in America. We tried to get a tour to see some of the National Parks but struggled to find any going to where we wanted to in our price range so we had to miss it out sadly.
