Hi everyone....this will be our last journal entry to give you an update on where we have been since we left Barcelona for Rome.
Rome was excellent. We did loads of sightseeing and visited the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Vatican, and lots of fountains and buildings. Jim celebrated his 31st Birthday while we were there - we celebrated with an italian meal (believe it or not). We also ate a lot of pizza in rome - which is absolutely fabulous.
We flew from Rome to Marseille and picked up a hire care. We drove to Toulouse and then onto Bordeaux for Christmas. We had an almost Christmas dinner which was lovely and stuffed ourselves with Cheese and Pate, washed down with some nice wine (Bordeaux of course). We then drove to Paris to meet everyone for New Year.
In Paris we had a couple of nights in Backpackersville which was really good. We did a ton of sightseeing.....Notre Dame, Sacre Coere, walked along the river. We also went to the Picasso museum which was excellent. We went to the Moulin Rouge with Jims Mum and Dad (Gerry and Lin), Ardi and Gemma which was brilliant and a must if you go to Paris. It was funny watching the ladies waft their feathers in Ardi and Gerry's faces. Simone's Mum (Marian), Jane and Jenny arrived the next day with a surprise visitor - Sarah (Simone's sister), all were definitely looking very chic!!!!
On New Years Eve we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and took a boat trip down the Seine. In the evening we all went for a Morrocan meal which was brilliant, there was even a belly dancer which caught Gerry's eye!! After the meal we all went to the Champs Elysee to see in the New Year.....it was a pretty amazing sight, hundreds of people everywhere and the street all lit up.
We met up with Ardi and Gemma on New Years Day and went ice skating, we all picked it up pretty quickly and were whizzing around in no time, trying to avoid the kid in the crash helmet.... Everyone met up in the evening again for one last meal in Paris.....
We had a brilliant time in Paris and it was really good to see everyone, a perfect end to a perfect trip...of a lifetime......
