We've just returned to Queenstown from Southland...where they all speak even more funny than the regular kiwis! We spent a few nights in Dunedin where we stayed in a big old house called Hogwarts. It was very cool. We visited Cadbury World and the Speights brewery. We enjoyed it muchly! We went down to the Catlins but didn't really see very much wildlife as the dolphins were in a bad mood and the penguins were out for the day. We saw lots of other birds and trees and waterfalls though. We spent a couple of nights in Te Anau where we did very little. The lake was very pretty and there were lots of good walks around and a very beautiful park full of trees from around the world. A girl we've been travelling with, Jess, got a bit homesick when she saw trees that she had in her garden! We also went to visit Milford Sound (which isn't actually a Sound). It was quite cool - we went on a 2 hour cruise and got right up close to some fur seals and a big waterfall! I enjoyed it a lot though we all agreed Milford was a bit over rated. Still, it was a nice day out but it was a long journey back to Queenstown so we were very glad of the free spa pool at our hostal! Off to Lake Tekapo and then to Christchurch for our last few days in New Zealand. I can't believe it's come around this quickly! Watch out... we might be home soon!
