Vicky and Natalie's Adventures
Good news... I did get to walk the glacier! I spent a whole day on the glacier and we got to do a fair bit of exploring - though we did have to hang around getting cold a few times whilst the guides cut steps in the ice! It was an incredible place with ice holes and caves that we got to walk through! It was very cold though and I was quite glad when we finally got back to town where there was a lovely cup of hot chocolate waiting for us! Whilst on the glacier my friend Jodie and I started talking to a guy called Al who told us he was a hairdresser so that night we went to his hostal and had our hair cut! I have short hair again so I'll be spending less on shampoo now! I also bet a guy from our bus that I could wear shorts and flip flops until the 2nd night in Queenstown (which was last night). I did win so he has to buy me some new flip flops as mine are now dead. It was hard going though as the west coast is really very cold and full of sandflies. Evil creatures. We went to a place called Wanaka which is stunning with a big blue lake against a background of mountains. Its really difficult to convey what these places are like with words - I wouldn't do it justice. All the houses here were massive and very open plan with amazing views... its definately the sort of place I could live (don't worry though I'm not going to stay). Now we're in Queenstown - adventure capital of New Zealand.. but I'm not doing anything remotely dangerous! We went to watch some people bungy jump... urgh! I screamed more than the people doing the jumps. There's plenty to do around here though and I've met some very lovely people who I'm going to walk around the lake with in a little while - hopefully we'll take some good pictures!
