I spent Friday morning returning all the equipment we use for the survey to the local Consulate and in the afternoon I found some time to do a bit of packing.
Kathy spent the morning being a lady of leisure and the afternoon exploring Cape Helles.
We had a great "last supper" at our accommodation. It's always a somewhat sad occasion. The team gets on really well together, and we don't see much of each other in between times.
On Saturday morning all the others took off for Istanbul at 6.30am, and an hour later Kathy and I left the accommodation to catch an 8am bus to Izmir where we got on another bus to come to Bodrum where we arrived at about 7pm. It was a long day and we both did a bit of slleping reading and played each other at Scrabble. The first bus we were on seemed to stop at every tiny settlement along the way and we were a little worried we were going to miss the Bordum bus. In the end the connection worked perfectly and we had just the right amount of time to find out where we needed to go to catch the bus.
It was a long day, the highlight of which were seeing so many olive trees - they're everywhere, seeing eucalyptus and causarina along the roadside at Izmir, and quite a spectacular sunset as we approached Bodrum. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera at hand. The mountains are also quite spectacular.
We're a little worried about the weather here. Everyone is rugged up. WE just hope it warms up for when we're on the boat, which we join on Monday. Sunday we have to go to the local Greek Island of Kos so I can change my visa to a tourist visa. My working visa has expired!
The attached photo shows the wares of the local gozleme restaurant that we frequent quite often. I'll add a couple more in an album.
