Okay, I'm online again. Now from Palolem in Southgoa. A beach area with lots of tourists, but I just needed some beach time before leaving Goa. Especially because Goa is known for its beaches I wouldn't leave without trying out the beaches. The reason why I chose a touristic area is to get the chance to meet some future fellow travelers. Ofcourse I like meeting new people everyday it is just hard to try and get to know new people non-stop when I only am to be with them for one day or so. So I really hope to meet some people here with whom I can go down South with.
The day I arrived in Panjim, Goa's capital, I started out by taking a walk in the city. It turned out to be a loong walk.. I got a little lost... That is something else about India; they don't use streetname signs, so it is hard to find your way by yourself. Especially with my memory :)
Anyway, I found my way back and went to a lovely terrace connected to my guesthouse. Here I met a German couple whom I went to dine with. We got some beers afterwards and had a good time.
The following day I went to a northern beach called Mandrem. Very very nice! I was indeed tempted to stay there, but as I am heading towards Kerala in the South of India it would be a bit stupid to choose a northern beach instead of a southern. I went to Mandrem with an English girl called Helen who were going to stay at the beach resort. We had lunch and lied afterwards on the beach for several hours, so I finally got a bit tanned, which I am going to work further on here in Palolem :)
On my way home from Mandrem I stopped by the train reservation office to get a train ticket to Palolem. They close at 20.00 and I was there at 19.40 but waited there for 25 mins, which means that the time passed 8pm - so they closed! and I didn't get my ticket even though I'd waited for so long. Jesus, what a system! Well there was nothing to do about it, so I went back to my guesthouse. The owner of my guesthouse speaks very well English and is very helpful, so she told me that the trains to Palolem sucks and that they always are at least 3 hours late. She recommended to go by cab - 47 kms for 1200 rupees = 132 DKK. I chose to go by cab! :)
So I checked out at my guesthouse this morning and afterwards I went by cap (800 rupees for a waiting taxi driver for 7 hours) to Old Goa, some temples and a lovely spice farm where I, together with 3 Dutch people, went on a guided tour in the spice plantage and had lunch at the same place. Very nice lunch. Afterwards I and the Dutch girl rode an elephant but only for 15 mins or so. Is was nice aswell, though :)
When I finished the spice farm my taxi driver drove me to Palolem where I found a hut to stay in. On my way to this internet cafe I bought two bags and a scarf :) Probably overprized, but what the heck. I needed a smaller bag. Now I am going back to my resort and hope to meet someone to spend time with. Tomorrow is beach time :)
Hope you're good at home.
Love
