Dave’s Travel Blog
We were up at 5:30 to do another game drive and were out for about 2 hours. A very successful time it was! After leaving the resort we immediately came upon a female rhino with a young one. Then driving a bit further we came upon some Zebra and a male rhino. We went back to the resort for breakfast and then checked out. We decided to drive out of the park by following another game trail. We were certainly in the most popular part of the park considering all the hired game drive cars we saw. At one point, we came across a brand new Mercedes Benz driven by a woman who was driving at about 5km an hour. There was a lineup behind her. We eventually made it out of the park and drove the N2 to St. Lucia, which is very much a tourist town. Except at night! You cannot walk the streets at night because the hippos go walkabout. As someone put it, the hippos go window shopping in St Lucia. We are in a wonderful resort with views of the ocean in the distance. We can watch the hippos go by our resort at night. There are lots of monkeys around so we have to keep the door to the sun deck closed. We had arrived too early to get into our room so we went to book a turtle tour tonight to see the turtles laying their eggs on the beach and tomorrow to do a boat tour on the river to see the hippos and the Nile crocodiles. We were feeling pretty grubby so after we got into our room,we went for a swim in the pool and showered. Feeling much better now!
