From Tioman island we caught the bus back to Mersing and did no hanging around their but got straight on a bus to Kuala Lumpur! This bus took about 6 hours but we did stop once for the loo about 4 and a half hours in!
Once arriving in KL as everyone calls it we found our accomodation (with family friends who live and work their). They live in Cap Square which is an upmarket new development right in the centre close to everything! Geoff and Jacqui's flat was on the eleventh floor with amazing views of the city! The Kl tower was literally feet from their flat!!
During our time in KL we did pretty much everything that was to be done! Went to Petaling street and bought some knock off 'designer' goods, matt found a Louis Vitton wallet for a bargin 4 pounds and I got a lovely dress for the same!!
We also went upto the Bridge between the Petronas twin towers, Went to Batu Caves just outside the city and mainly walked around the city spotting the difference between England and Malaysia! (They are very different!!)
Eating out in KL was infact so much cheaper than eating in, so every night we went somewhere different and ate all kinds of food, some nice, some not so nice but luckily none of them made us ill!!!
One of my favourite things we did was to visit the bird park! It is the largest open bird park in the world or so it says!! The moment we walked in birds surrounded us and were sitting on Matt's head and on my back!!
There were so many different types of birds including emus and ostriches!! It was pretty scary too though!
One thing that was more expensive in KL though was the alcohol! Bit dissapointing but quite nice in a way to not be at all hung over and feeling fresh all the time! I'm sure that will all change once we get to Thailand!!!
Apart from all the sightseeing, the rest of our time was spent by the shared pool in Geoff and Jacquis complex! Lazy Days!!
I do not miss work!!!!
Some things to note about KL! :
Traffic; the traffic is so bad! I could not believe it was the capital of Malaysia! There done seem to be any road runs. Even when the man turns green for us to cross that doesn't mean its safe! Mopeds and cars still carry on not taking a blind bit of notice of you! Luckily we had been warned of this so we were not so naive as to just swan across the road!
McDonalds; you can get a McDonalds meal for 5ringit which is just less than 1 English pound! Not that I felt the need to eat McDonalds but seriously eating rice and noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner does get a bit boring after 3 weeks so I did have a couple of McDonalds and I did feel a bit bad about it but I justified it to myself somehow!
Petaling Street; don't go to petaling street without a watch, sunglasses, a hat or pretty much anything they sell because they will hound you until you buy something! at least when you have some of these things you have an excuse and they don't bother you as much!
