Melbourne is one of my favourite places. We stayed in a hotel right in the centre. I found Melbourne so easy to get around, it is just like one big square and they have tourist trams you can just jump on for free. The shopping is amazing here. Its a shame i aint got no money to spend, i've never seen so many shopping centres!
Myers christmas parade we are here late november and everyone is christmas shopping, its nothing like back home there are no big queues or stress. (i think it is because all the shops are so big and there are so many??) we were lucky enough to be in Melbourne for the Myer (a department store) christmas parade. The whole of Bourke street was closed off and there were camera crews everywhere. They had loads of christmassy floats, Bands and dancers and we saw santa! at the end the whole street was filled with red and white confetti. We sort of got into the christmas spirit, but it didn't feel the same because of the boiling hot weather?
Neighbours we couldn't come to melbourne and not do 'the neighbours tour' (it was petes idea) we got picked up fro outside the train station in a minibus with neighbours painted in huge letters up the side. We felt a bit embarrassed but got on, the bus was filled with fans!! first stop was erinsbourough high! it is actually a school, and it was breaktime. All the kids were out and we were snapping away with our cameras - i bet they thought we were right freaks. Next we went to the studio, where they film all the inside shots and there we met Susan Kenedy!!! She was soo nice, she spoke with everyone. She asked us about our travels and where we were from, she seemed genuinly intrested. She is a really nice person, we had had photos with her, and got her autograph! We then went to Ramsey street, but we couldn't walk around as they were filming. I havn't seen neighbours in ages but they were filming haralds final shots before he left in a caravan?? (sorry if i've spoiled it?!)
Penguin parade we went on a trip to Philip island, not to watch motorbikes as pete would have liked (there was no racing) but to watch the penguins. We were sat on the beach just after sunset, when groups of penguins started apearing from the water. They looked petrified goin in and out of the water about 5 times before standing up straight and running across the beach. It was an amazing site seeing hundreds of penguins making the dash across the beach to their omes in the grass behind. It was a shame we wern't aloud to take any pics, they were sooo cute! When we got back to the bus in the carpark there were signs asking to check under your vehicles for penguins!
