Had a bit of a lazy morning today, as got up a bit late and didn't really do much. Esther went off on to Mount Warning with Tassie and a few other people, leaving myself and Froukje to sleep in :D
The weather wasn't looking too great - bit overcast and so on, so we crossed our fingers for Esther that they'd have a good view up there.
Froukje and I didn't know really what to do with ourselves and by the time we got ourselves ready to go out and do the Toilet Walk, the weather looked even worse. We went with our umbrella's and really had to use them!
The Toilet Walk is basically a walk through Mur'bah looking at all the public toilets because a few of them had murals painted on the outside walls. There were also other murals along other walls and buildings, and some pretty cool graffiti on some walls too! Thereis a funky sign on a wall just by the River Tweed bridge, that said Welcome to Murwillumbah - cool! Can't really forget where you are with graffti like that :D
Doing the toilet walk also made sure that we did a bit of exercise and also walked around the town a bit too. Seeing as it was Easter weekend though, all of the shops were closed (apart from the Spar - yay - I could get some food to eat) so we couldn't even wander around the shops. Not that we needed to, but by the time we were coming down from a lookout point, it had started to rain so it wasn't particularly nice. We hadn't wandered far though, and the walk went in a bit of a loop, so that was quite good.
As we were up the top of the lookout, we thought we had spotted Mount Warning, but it was pretty cloudy and once we got back, we realised that we didn't even see the mountain as it was completely covered by cloud! We also realised that it can't have been a great view from up there....oh dear!
We ambled back to the hostel and twiddled our thumbs a bit as to what to do....Tassie didn't have a great dvd library (only about 7 dvd's - I think some of the others had been stolen....) and we didn't want to go out again to the rental place....and then we found the 750 piece jigsaw and thought we may as well do that! Lots of houses from Magdalen Islands, where ever that may be, but it seemed like a nice jigsaw and we had to pass the time somehow! We started it around 4pm or so, and ended up finishing it at about 8pm. 750 pieces, 2 people, 4 hours - is that good? It was quite complicated if that sounds like a long time....about 8 houses by 5 houses and they were all different colours and so on....all the pieces were there too!
However, as it took us so long to complete it, I asked Tassie not to break it up until I left :D
Esther and the others arrived back from the mountain at about 4:30pm, looking rather soggy and muddy, so Froukje and I were definitely glad that we didn't go up there! Yes, it was a good walk as it wasn't too steep but it was wet and muddy, and they could all have a shower afterwards, but it was also nice to have an easy day :D
One of them had rented 'Australia' from the dvd rental place but I didn't fancy watching it and Froukje had already seen it, so we carried on with the jigsaw.
We also finished the jigsaw well before ice cream time at 9pm :D
We did get a few funny looks from a couple who obviously wanted to eat their dinner at the table....oops! However, there were a fair few other tables outside, and it had stopped raining by the evening so they went off to eat somewhere else.
So, that was my day in Mur'bah. Fairly quiet, but just quite funny and nice hanging out with nice people!
