Had a really nice birth-day today, which was cool.
Met up with Esther and she'd bought me some nice birthday choccies - yay!! So nice of her, considering that we'd only met each other about 5 days ago or something! We found the opticians and I picked out a nice pair of frames which are blue and green. Nice striking ones as well, as opposed to the rimless ones that I've got at the moment. Hopefully my opticians at home will just get those replaced without any extra cost to me! The girl that helped me in Laubman & Pank - Jennifer - said that it must be a manufacuring fault as glasses lenses shouldn't just snap off like that. I told her that I'm normally really careful with mine so I wasn't expecting it to happen at all. She said that she's really rough with her's and they've lasted ages! So, I am assuming that my glasses weren't quite right when I got them....
Unfortunately, I only had to get the frames reserved for me as they can do an approximate reading of my prescription from my glasses, but they would rather have my actual prescription from my opticians so they can get it completely right. So, I had to call my opticians at home again when I got back!! That was certainly interesting as they weren't particularly helpful again! I thought I'd given them the full international dialling code, but I did ask them to check just in case as I didn't want to get back there tomorrow for the prescription not to have arrived! They said they would do their best, but you want to hear that someone will check rather than just 'doing their best.' I'm going to be nice as pie to them when I get back home, but considering that I'm meant to be a valued customer at an independent opticians, you'd expect a bit more! I know I don't go there that often, but I do buy some of their most expensive glasses!
Anyways, I'll see what happens when I get back....and in the meantime I'll have to go back to this opticians tomorrow! They do have branches all along the East Coast, so it shouldn't be a problem picking them up somewhere. I'm just crossing my fingers that my prescription does get faxed to them!
Also tried to reserve my seat on the train for my journey to Maroochydore tomorrow, but I was told that I couldn't reserve a seat in advance and I'd have to ring tomorrow to get one. For some reason they don't reserve seats until the day, for any journey between here and Gympie. Don't know why, but I guess I'll just have to phone tomorrow and get my seat. The guy I spoke to said I could just turn up and it is usually ok, but seeing as it's still the Easter holidays, it would probably be useful to book a place so I know that I'm getting on the train.
Didn't do much in the city today, though we did wander along the river and we went to the beach again. As it's still the Easter holidays, the place was teeming with people!! The good weather obviously helped people out of the house again, as it was much more crowded than yesterday! I think it was nice just to hang out in the sun really, nothing wrong with that!! Gotta make the most of it before coming back home, right? :D
Went to see the film as well - Shinjuku Incident - and it was certainly interesting. Jackie Chan in a really serious acting role, rather than high jinx kicks and stunts! Blimey, he can actually act! It was a pretty good storyline, if a bit gory and violent. It's not like I'm new to violence, but perhaps I've just been shielded for the last few months seeing as I haven't watched much telly! Ha ha!
We decided to grab some dinner before heading off as well, and I found a Wagamama's so w e went there. I just wanted guaranteed good food after yesterday's terrible meal, so I plumped for Wagamamas. It isn't much more expensive than at home either, so that was another incentive to go. I had lovely yasai katsu curry - mmmmmmm - and it made me miss home!
Got a phonecall from my mamon when I got back to Marion and Ian's too, which was really nice. I think she's looking forward to having me back home again in a few weeks!! We have a new front door at home, and some new front windows, so I might not even recognise the place. My sister has been decorating in the kitchen too, so it might be a whole new place! Good thing she's picking me up at the airport, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get in the house seeing as I left my house keys at home, and even if I did have my house keys, they wouldn't work :D
So, I had a much better birthday than yesterday thankfully! I guess it was my actual birthday today, so that's fair enough.
Not much of a plan for tomorrow but meeting up with Esther again hopefully at some point (it's nice to meet someone that you get on with really well, we've spent two days straight hanging out and haven't gotten bored with each other!) and I've got to go back to the opticians to sort out my glasses obviously. It's amazing how my eyes seem to have taken over my time in Brisbane!! Perhaps I should just get laser eye surgery and be done with it!!??
