Our journey brought us to Florence. After a 20 minute stopover in Nice and a nice little break in Ventimiglia, the Italian French border town, it was really refreshing to know there was a bed waiting for us.
The view from the train was awesome. The coast of Southern France, Nice, Cannes, Monaco, it was soo cool to see fathoms of sea engulfing the horizon. A big change in comparison to the streets of London, overwhelmed with Flats, Estates, Offices and Tall Buildings.
There's no doubt about it, Florence was an amazing little city. Although we arrived at night and got lost, the overwhelming site of the church Santa Maria Novella was breathtaking. The morning saw us take the streets of this little town and indeed our expectations were fulfilled. An amazing church, gold plated doors, it really did feel like a town full of history.
However...we needed a city.
All through the day, I think we both thought....How could you live in such a small town? To me this is where the problem of being a City Boy comes into play. As much as you hate the concept of living in London, you kind of miss the bustling atmosphere once your away from it.
Maybe Rome might fulfill this.
