Hello from Bali!! Its now our 9th week, over halfway!!
We have moved countries again! Flew into Bali (Indonesia) on Sunday night to a very very long queue for visa's, guess who had no money so we were ushered through to the cash machine by security (like we were going to run off!) then put right at the back of the queue. Finally got through after at least an hour of waiting at nearly 11 o'clock at night, not happy! Arrived at our hotel to be then told we were staying in it's sister hotel down the road. We thought they were going to give us a grotty version of the original but to our surprise it was a real paradise hotel, with pool and everything you could easily rate it 4 star. This is the best bit, it was 6 pound a night, bargain!!!!
Kuta beach is very beachy touristy really so we've felt like we've been on holiday all week. Been down to the beach, loads of surfers out and about and of course all the sellers that hound you before you've even sat down. One seller did prove to be of some use though, he had magazines in english!! We got so excited! Best money spent of the week ha ha! Lazed by the pool the other days and did a bit of shopping, o.k, a lot of shopping time to post some stuff home again!!
Our hotel also had a spa, so we had more massages and pampering for 2 hours, did n't even cost us a tenner each. We are getting a bit too used to this we might have to become footballers wives when we get home to keep to the lifestyle we have become accustomed to ha ha!
Moved to Ubud today which is a bit further inland. Its a very arty type of place set in fields that looks a bit like a rainforest with loads of paintings and stone and wood carvings. You should have seen our faces when we pulled up to our home, Nick's hidden cottages. 'Hidden' gives you some insight into how far out in the middle of a rice paddy they actually are!! We are 'nt even kidding when we say they are at the bottom of a dirt road with a thin walkway and no car access. Even the taxi driver was laughing when he dropped us off! That said its very picturesque with little rooms each set up steps with balcony overlooking the trees and rice paddies. Not much good for us though as no t.v plus we can't really stay out after dark as it will be pitch black down the lane and we have visions of one of us falling over the side into the rice paddie!!
Just been for a nosy around the markets and had some tea. Also found a book/magazine shop much to our relief so going to go in and do some bedtime reading.
Speak to you all soon xxx.
