23 July - 28 July - UK- London & Pangbourne
We had a very varied week ... Child minding mixed with culture!!! We had Wednesday free so faced the crowds at Primark for Gens shopping. I have to confess that even R & I were not immune to the £3 specials. At short notice we were invited to a theatre production called A Season in the Congo. The whole experience was excellent. It's a difficult story to portray well but the cast were outstanding using a range of techniques, costumes, lighting & puppetry to convey the meaning & sense of history. The day was topped off with a drink in a local pub & a lovely tapas meal catching up with an old friend.
On Friday we were sole charge with the twins so packed up the buggy & headed into the Tate Modern art gallery. It's in an old power station with beautiful high areas to display the artworks. It's a perfect place for the buggy as its very family friendly - one is encouraged NOT to be quiet & there are ample facilities for changing, feeding etc. We had a great day topped off by Angus coming over for dinner.
On Saturday Angus took us on a road trip to Pangbourne which is near Reading, a couple of hours drive west of London. One of the reasons for this destination was to visit the grave of R late sister buried there in 1951 as it was near his Mum's family home. We then had lunch at a lovely little pub & enjoyed catching up with our boy. Angus's car also enjoyed the opportunity to 'stretch' its legs. I was comfortable in the assumption that the speedo was in km's .......... !!!!!!!!
Back in time to receive Joseph from his Granny & slip into dinner, bath & bed routine. A good day had by all!
