Day 56, 57, 58, and 59
We got a very early ferry from Penang to Langkawi which took 3 hours. Our hotel (Azio) was in Kuah Town, which wasn't close to the beaches so we had to get a taxi. As we arrived early in the morning we decided to head to Chenang Beach for the day. We had been told this was the busiest beach on the island, but we were pleasantly surprised to find there was lots of space on the nice white sand. It was really hot and we both got burnt....AGAIN! We found an arabic restraunt for dinner and had some juciy kebabs.
As we hadn't had the chance to relax and do nothing since we were in Thailand we decided to head to the beach again for the day. We didn't sit in the sun as much after burning the previous day, but I somehow still managed to burn my face and get ridiculous sunglasses marks, much to Jamies amusement (he said I looked like a red panda!)
On our third day we headed to the Langkawi cable car, the main attraction on the island other than the beaches. It is the steepest cable car ride in the world, and we realised as we sat down in the extremely small pod that was to take us up, it would be one of the scariest too! The views were really good going up, but the swaying of the cable car in the wind didn't help to calm my nerves. I was glad to get to the top and even Jamie admitted that the climb was nerve-racking! At the top there was a couple of viewing points where you could see for miles, including all the smaller surrounding islands of Langkawi. There was also a sky bridge, which again tested the nerves as it swayed with the breeze. We headed down from the mountain and after lunch walked to a different beach that was close by, although we weren't sure in which direction to head and ended up trespassing on a private beach to a 5* hotel.
On our final day we couldn't resist another day on the beach at Chenang, and enjoyed clear skies /sunshine till about 3 o'clock when the weather closed in incredibly fast. It was madness the heavens opened and we got drenched even though we were huddling under our beach umbrella! Once the rain had dried up we headed to the night market across the road from our hotel for some local food.
Langkawi is a beautiful island and we really enjoyed our time lazying around on the beach.
Update soon lots of love xxxxx
