Hello once more,
First thing to report on is the tour that we went on in Puerto Madryn on the day we left. It was excellent. We went with Flamingo tours and they let us change the tour days round with no problems, see previous blog. We spent the day travelling on gravel roads around Peninsula Valdes and at one beach in a five minute window saw sea lions, elephant seals, a pod of six orcas just off the beach and a southern right whale again all within one landscape.
On to Bariloche! We are leaving tomorrow having spent four nights here in Hostel 41 below, best hostel so far. Loads of English speaking people, and a great atmosphere. On the first day we went for a four hour hike up Cerro Otto with some other backpackers. We're right at the beginning of Summer here so it has just started to warm up so all the views have snow capped mountains as a back drop. All the activities we have done here have rewarded us with breathtaking views so i wont go on about it, just have a look at the photos when we put them up.
The second day we went on a 30km bike, with a hike up another peak in the middle for kicks, which left us understandibly exhausted and sore! Lukily we had a New Zealand couple to spur us along who were quite ino their adventure sports. The views of the National Park and the lakes were worth every pedal push and there were some awesome downhills along the way! We treated ourselves in the traditional Argentinian manner with the rest of the hostel at another steak house for the standard steak and chips.
Today we went horse riding which neither of us have done for years. To be fair i've {Tom} never really ridden properly at all, as it became very apparent, and alex was in her element remebering years of horse riding lessons from her youth. My horse and I either walked too slowly or had to trot to catch up continuosly with the guide and alex. The guide showed me how to kick the horse as hard as i could several times afer a clear period of frustration by the pace I was setting, or not seting should I say. By the end of the trek however i realised it was my awful posture that meant the horse had no idea what i wanted it to do.
Tomorrow we cross the border into Chile and go to Puerto Montt for one night before heading up to Pucon for some more outdoor adventures.
We will try to get the photos uploaded as soon as possible.
