He says: Today we made the short half hour drive to the spectacular ruins of Aspendos. The main amphitheater (refer to photo) from around 155AD is still in great shape, and hosted ballet and concerts up until a few years ago. It was the first time I've seen ruins up close and I now know what all the fuss is about. Since being in Antalya we've become big fans of gozeleme - a traditional Turkish dish that is freshly made dough filled with feta cheese and spinach. It's made fresh in front of your eyes and placed on a hot stove and basted with olive oil. We've happened upon a few roadside stands over the last few days and today's edition was pretty awesome. There were three elderly ladies and one middle aged woman who treated us like royalty for the price of 13 lira ($6.50 CDN). They made us fresh gozeleme and brought us fresh fruit and veggies. We learned some Turkish and had a nice conversation despite the language barriers. They were incredibly kind and generous and both Shauna and I left feeling full of gozeleme and warmth from their hospitality. We then headed back to Belek and explored the city centre. We saw a sign for go karting and went for it as go karting like ice cream or a massage is a guaranteed good time. We raced around the track at lightning speed which was a welcome change from three days of driving the Renault. Finally, we ended the day on the beach and witnessed the sunset over the mountains. Tomorrow we are planning on getting Turkish massages - I hope they have lots of oil.
