Shaun on the Road
Well, here is a little update. First, I have decided not to go to India. I was having some issues with getting a visa to go there and I have heard many stories of travelers going there and getting sick and not liking the whole experience. If I were going with someone else, it may be different, but I decided to scrap the idea and just head straight for south east Asia. So here is a continuation from where I left off.
I had a good time in Korea. We met up with a Canadian guy and I ended up hanging out with him quite a lot. We saw many of the sites of Seoul and area, including the de-militarized zone. Very interesting. It is also the most fun war zone on the planet, complete with movie theatre, underground train, confectionary, childrens midway, and several fast food outlets. Not bad for the world's last cold war frontier.
After Korea, I had another night in Hong Kong with my cousin Noreen, and then I left for Bangkok. Wow, what a city. There is a street in the city called Khao San road. If you have ever been to Bangkok, odds are you have been here. It is amazing. There are more hostels and hotels, restaurants, burned CD's and DVD's, taxi's and tuk tuk's than the eye can possibly take in all at once. I only spent one night there, and took the night train to Chiang Mai, where I am right now.
I am leaving on a trek tomorrow, which will last for three days. From there I am going to head back to Bangkok to pick up my passports with fresh visas for Cambodia and Vietnam and then head out that way. I'll update this site again when I get the chance.
